SomnoStar

Data Acquisition

The SomnoStar Data Acquisition Program combines the "gold standard" quality of traditional analog recording devices with the innovations afforded by advances in digital technology. The standard SomnoStar Acquisition Station is designed to accommodate the Cephalo Pro Digital Amplifier, with up to 40 AC/8 DC Channels per bed. Acquisition Stations may be configured as either a single bed per computer or two beds per computer.

Scoring

When scoring a polysomnogram using the SomnoStar Software, the user can enjoy a direct linear pathway to an accurate report. The SomnoStar Scoring Software design objective is simple: produce a clean, accurate report for physician review in the shortest possible time.

LabManager

LabManager is a fully integrated Sleep/Wake database designed specifically to instill value in the procedures performed by the sleep lab. Polysomnographic results and interpretations move seamlessly between the SomnoStar Software and the LabManager data management system. A sleep system without LabManager is simply another data collection and reporting device.

Respiratory Inductance Plethysmography (RIP)

RIP is a calibrated, non-invasive airflow measurement technique applied to the patients rib cage and abdomen with two semi-disposable elastic bands. RIP monitors tidal volume, coordination of breathing, and respiratory timing parameters, with nothing attached to the face or placed in the esophagus-a significant improvement in patient comfort.

The use of RIP allows the user to see Flow Volume Loops and Konno Mead Loops both in realtime during acquisition, and after the data has been collected when scoring the polysomnogram. This affords the technologist a clinical advantage to data that would not be recognized by the traditional methods of measuring airflow or patient effort. The use of RIP Technology, Flow Volume and Konno Mead Loops take the guesswork out of performing CPAP Titrations and identifying Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS).
