Nitric Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide Analyzer
|
Safe and effective delivery of Nitric Oxide requires monitoring of the inhaled concentration as well
as monitoring of Nitrogen Dioxide, a toxic by-product resulting from the mixing of Nitric Oxide and
Oxygen. The SensorNOx is the most advanced Nitric Oxide analyzer available today, enabling
continuous monitoring, storing and printing of both gases, A unique built-in sidestream sampling
system and intelligent gas sensing mechanism ensures that simplicity of use is combined with
unrivaled accuracy and reliability.

Physiologic Function of Nitric Oxide
|
Inhaled Nitric Oxide (iNO) is an experimental therapeutic gas that has pulmonary vascular bed
relaxing properties. Nitric Oxide is both a naturally occurring gas produced in the respiratory
system and an environmental pollutant produced as a byproduct of combustion engines, cigarette
smoke, etc. In low concentrations (less than 80 ppm), it has been demonstrated to affect changes
in smooth muscles including those of the airways and vascular beds. Nitric Oxide as an inhaled
gas, passes across the alveolar-capillary membrane and through the walls of the capillary,
relaxing the smooth muscle wall of the capillary. Passing into the capillary blood stream, iNO is
quickly bound by the hemoglobin, disarming it from vaso-activity downstream.
